Breitbach’s Country Dining — Balltown, IA
Last year I watched an interesting documentary, Spinning Plates. The movie told the tale of three different restaurants and the hurdles their owners had to jump over. One of the featured restaurants, Breitbach’s Country Dining, (at the link, read about the fires), seemed to be just my kind of place:
When I left for Fargo, I had every intention in stopping by Balltown, either on the way to or on the way back. The weather turned stupid on Friday and the forecast predicted, “Stupid weather, mostly stupid, with a huge chance of stupid throughout the weekend.” Figured while I would care about riding a bicycle in stupid weather, I wouldn’t give a rat’s ass what the weather was like if I was in a nice cozy restaurant. I decided to hit up Breitbach’s on the way back.
When I checked out, Mike — the owner — asked me how I found out about the place. I told him it was through Spinning Plates. If you get a chance, check out the movie. I know as of June 2015 it’s on Netflix.
